My new homemade straight bogota

I never tried bogota's before and i was wondering if they work good so i decide make this one,


Its made with electrical fish tape.


I reinforce the the handle with a lenght of fish tape on each side and I put 3 heat shrink one over the other.


I didn't make the handle ''Raimundo'' style, straight handle seem more natural to me.



Its a very very good rake. you just need to practice with it. the tension needed is different from other picks.

Does Raimundo still sell his Bogota picks? I got a set from him a couple years back. I hang on to them like a collector's item now since I consider them irreplaceable.

Gibraltar, I'm curious of the performance of fish tape as lock picks. It turned out to be pretty good for tension wrenches, but they are much thicker than picks.

From what I've seen of the properties of hacksaw blades and the properties of fish tape I think that a pick made of fish tape would take more force to flex than a pick made out of hacksaw blades but they deform plasticaly (bend) before suffering a ductile fracture. Where as a pick made of hacksaw blade is springy and does take as much force to flex but they do not bend before suffering a brittle fracture.

Those are just my hypothesis` about the differences between both materials but it could all play out much different. I just don`t feel like spending time making picks to test how they break and which ones last longer.

I would appreciate it if could comment on the durability of picks made of fish tape if find anything noteworthy.

I have 3 sets made by Raimundo. They are incredible strong for as small as they are. You will have no problem with them breaking as long as they are not abused.

a)Making my own Bogotas with Raimundo,s excellent tutorial i found while searching this site.
b)Pm him for them.I reckon the shipping costs would be very high though,so that kinds of puts me off.

Nevermind, I just bought myself a round file so I'll do the tests myself and post my results...
