My first lock malfunction

Part of locksmithing is learning correct? I think so.

I decided to take apart a pad lock i had. It has no name on it and I sell them through work(truck stop). It was fairly easy to take it apart. The cylinder came out easy. I was messing with the cylinder and when I turned the key all the pins fell out the bottom of the cylinder Well i guess when i turned the key it release the spring and now the lock wont do anything. I founf about 3 of the 6 pins and they are serrated. Knowing this I thin I will buy one of these locks tomorrow and start practicing on it. 6 pins with at least three of them being security should be a nice step up in the learning process.

Wow that sounds ruff... I had my first today too..
my new master 911 I picked like 15 times the first day i had it then nothing for 2 days.. I re-applied the basics today and got it! Then I secured the hasp without rotating the cylinder back not its screwed. Nothing I can do will work, and you cant even shim this one. $22 bucks

I botched up an American 5000 series padlock this morning. Lost one entire pin stack and somehow jammed the retainer in the body of the lock.

The one I messed up was just like the 700 series. Amazing how short of a time period it takes to fubar a completely good lock.
