is Peterson phasing out plastic handles?

I'm one of the people who actually prefers Peterson's rubber handles so this doesn't affect me, but I noticed that their new profiles (see the new rakes here) are presently listed only with a dip and rubber configuration... I wonder if plastic handles are soon to follow, or if they're phasing them out...

I'd say they are still gonna make the plastic handles, along even with the metal handles, it may just be a matter of finding them. Like maby they make different catalogs for locksmiths or something We'll see

well if you look on the website they ask you to agree that you ARE a locksmith before you buy from them.

I doubt the standard picks with plastic handles will disappear but I know for a fact that ken prefers the rubber handles.

yes, exactly -- I am also aware of this which is what lead to my speculation.

I doubt they'll be discontinued, too... it doesn't make good business sense, too many existing customers would be alienated.

bumber: thanks for sending the email. it'd be nice to hear straight from ken or a rep. I guess there's no real point in speculating.

there's no special "locksmith" catalog, but you might say they have two catalogs -- the website, and the print catalog. it's odd, sometimes the catalog is more up-to-date than the website, sometimes the other way around. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the print catalog (if there is a very recent one) had these picks with plastic handles in it right now, heh. I remember it took the longest time for the government steel single picks and the deforrest to make their way from the print catalog to the website.

Ya that was the first time I had ever seen the site is by clicking on the link in the first post so I had no idea who they would sell them too

usually ken will get back to you direct within 24 hours in my experience. From the brief emails we have exchanged he seems like one of the good guys.

ill look forward to what he replies. but make sure u are honest about being a hobby picker and that you will be releasing the emails before u do anything. not only because of manors but because the trade can be harsh on people that deal with hobby pickers.

I told in my email that a I heard a question on this forum and wrote out what the question consisted of, and told him that I would be posting either a direct quote or a small portion of the reply back to the forum regarding the matter. So he may not even reply to me at all but still we'll see

im pretty sure he will reply in some way or another. im sure he knows one of the reasons people go direct is because f the great service.

The rubber handles looks more nicer and "professional" but I prefer the blue plastic handles over the rubber ones. The plastic handle is easier to take out and place back in the Peterson leather case.
