bought my first picks - dont like them

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Wouldn't emery cloth be better than sandpaper?

I don't know...I have never heard of emery cloth before but it looks like it would work just as well.

Emery cloth is more expensive per sheet, I've never tried it. Silicone carbide backed sandpaper does the job fine. I usually I can get like 3 different sheets of the later for what one sheet of emery cloth would have cost. It might work fine, I haven't tried it because if the finish from it was too rough then I'd have to go back and get something less coarse.

Emery cloth is nothing more than sandpaper with a cloth backing instead of paper. It isn't easy to find in super fine grits. It's normally sold in coarse to fine. It is more expensive but lasts 10 times as long as paper.

most of the time I just do a really good job with wet 220grit made for metals, but if for some reason you wanted to go crazy with it try to find some 1500grit wet sanding paper. You can find it at this price at most local auto part stores, and some hardware shops. They use it to finish paint for cars, Ive used it once when I got the left overs from a friend.

I did 220 dry, 400 wet, 600 wet, then finnaly 1500 wet...never thought I would ever see anything with such a shine :!:
