Great place for locks

Postby poor paperclip picker » 3 Mar 2008 17:05

Well I was doing some volunteer work today, and while sweeping some floors I noticed a whole bunch of used locks just sitting on a shelf. There was KIK's Deadbolts, and just some cylinders. The best part is that for one KIK or deadbolt it was only 3 dollars!!!

So anyway, the store is called Habitat for Humanity's ReStore. If there is one by you, you should definitely check it out.

There was a kind of limited selection though. No Medecos or anything like that. There was a lot of Kwicksets and Schalges.

I got a Cole National(?), there is no writing on the knob or knob setup so I am just going by what is written on the original key. I am trying to figure out how to remove the cylinder right now.

But anyways just wanted to let you know.

my shop routinely donates locks to ReStore. I like any charity that works to give people a hand-up instead of a hand-out.

Well I took apart that Cole National, which i found out is the brand of key. The lock is schalge KIK. For those interested the key way is SC22. It is a wafer lock I found out. I have not tried to pick it yet, it needs some heavy cleaning. It is all gunked up with grease. So that is one of my projects. I also got an American lock. I haven't really looked at it yet. So I think I will go fool around with that one now.
