I broke down and called a lockie

I spent 2 hours trying to pick a locked door in my house, lucky me the keys were just on the other side. I managed to pick the lock other times without much problem. this time I could only pick it anti clockwise, after 2 hours i called a local smith to get me in my bedroom. Yeah he raked the lock for and hour, and could also only get it anti clockwise which only locks it. Long story short he used chanel locks to break off the knob, now i have a new lock to play with

I have pulled the pins on top of the high low high low biting on the key, it also had 3 spool style security pins. not bad for a 5 dollar lock if i do say so myself

as for the plug spinner, I don't know if he had one, but I can't afford right now anyway

Plug spinner = $30-40USD. (Can't remember exactly what I paid for mine)
Locksmith + replacement lock after he destroyed yours? Has to be more than $30-40USD?!

SPP a lock the first time you see it in WAY under an hour, especially a cheap KIK - priceless.

Dont get the cheap $20 one. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you wind it more than 2 times it bends the spring and you have to use some needle nose plyers to bend it back. If you wind it twice, like I said, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I think most locksmiths know this technique, it just hasn't become mainstream I guess yet? I haven't personally done it but I've been show the technique. On knob sets, it's so much easier than drilling.

As for the locksmith picking it for an hour before doing that, that is a little suspect. I don't know any locksmith that would pick a simple lock for an hour for a customer unless it had significance for the customer (and this one doesn't lead me to believe it did because he broke out the channel locks).

It's not a matter of value towards you that I'm questioning, it's the fact that the locksmith tried to pick it for an hour. Unless he charged you labor for that time, I can't gather any business sense from that move.

I have three plug spinner's, two of them are from well known companies,one of them I made myself.

It spins both ways,and work's better then the store bought ones, but the one that work's every time is the simple rubber band. with your post count you should know how they work. I agree with the rest,why would a locksmith waste so much time just to wreck something?
