Safety0ff wrote:If you look at it as 4 is the maximum number of digit then the answer is:
10^4+10^3+10^2+10=11 110.
FFVision wrote:for a 2 digit combination, it's 10 * 10 or 100. For 3 digits, it's 10 * 10 * 10 which is 1000

I realise I wasn't clear in this case, whatever.

keysman wrote:Hold on ! If there can only be 4 digits than the largest # will be 9999 starting at 0000 that leaves 10,0000 possible combinations not 362K or more

FFVision wrote:The working combination is a 4 digit number with a value somewhere between 0000 and 9999, so you have exactly 10,000 possible combinations.

I think it's covered... twice...

Yeah, sorry. Didn't read it in detail after the first few posts, so I just said what I thought would help explain.

So is there really anyway one could hack such an electronic lock? Is so how would one go about doing so?

Start at 0000, if that doesn't work, try 0001. Keep trying the next ones until you get locked out. When you can try again, continue to the next number. You SHOULD more than likely get it before you get to 9999. If not, it's probably broken
