Sounds like that Dorex knob is not designed like the schlage knobs. It may be more like the Kwikset style. If that's the case there is a totally different way to remove the cylinder. It calls for a special tool but that tool can be improvised with a properly sized flat head screwdriver.
take a look at these instructions before dismantling your knob and possibly not being able to put it back together.
