the non bs chubb 3g115, 3u115 , and 3k75 locks are sometimes mistaken for gold , though these are an olive green usualy.
the 7 lever chubb , the old 117 and the new 107 ar a beige colour.
but beware of locksmiths who refurb locks and spray them up with whatever colour they have.

This is going slightly off-topic, however to continue off-topic....
I've been speaking to the wholesalers about the Adams Rite kit, and they are stating 4 weeks for delivery from the States. I've been in contact with Peterson's in the states, and they can get one to me in 2 weeks. So Pinky/Ken, if you have "spares", lay one aside, and I'll get it off you when I see you (same applies for the 2mm drill kit).
now..you can continue on-topic (it's an interesting thread).
Cheers
Rockford.

Just a quickie on this discussion of drilling through mortice plate metal, is the bits your all talking about, Cobalt drill bits ? as i use these already in my line of work, which involves a lot of drilling stainless steel, and they eat it for breakfast (there the type with the split tip that bites real easy)! They chomp through cast iron in a jiffy also, just a comment thats all.

The drill bits are a different kind to HSS, Ti, Cobalt etc. drill bits.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but from what I gather, the angle at which they drill is different as the hardplate is often quite thin and hard from the very top all the way through and a normal brill bit's optimum cutting edge is a couple of mm down into the surface.
I've never tried using any though, but what's what I've seen/heard.
