BEST style SFIC specific discussion group

Postby WOT » 14 Mar 2008 17:44

I have a soft spot for the BEST style ICCOREs.

I set a group on Yahoo specifically for discussing anything and everything for BEST type SFIC. I'm hoping to have the discussion get beyond picking.

I'd like to see discussions on pinning calculation, designing system to servicing discussion, keyways, and anything you can think of.

Why just Best? Falcon is nearly identical.

I didn't say BEST brand, I said BEST style. Not all IC cores are BEST style, meaning tip stopped, dual shear line type.

It's just like calling the common AV equipment connector "RCA connector" even though they're likely made somewhere in China and are not made by Radio Corporation of America.

I see, read it a little fast.

Aren't all SFIC, minus Schlage models, tip stopped though?

It's the Schlage LFIC core that isn't tip stop'd(?)

Schlage's SFIC is bow stopped, primarily because of patents.

Schlage ICs are not dual shearline. They are keyed just like regular locks and use a special long-nosed blank to remove the core.

There is no special blank for BEST type locks, instead each chamber has a minimum of 3 pins, 4 pins if master keyed and two independent shearlines. You can't visually tell the control key from rest of the keys as it is simply cut to different bittings.
