shoddy work at my bank

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

shoddy work at my bank

Postby Squelchtone » 18 Mar 2008 8:44

So I went to my bank yesterday and noticed they did something to their lobby door and their interior door.

Some fool bought the wrong backset deadbolts to replace the aging deadbolts in their doors. Same BEST sfic cylinders and hardware, but the deadbolt mechanism was exchanged from a 2-3/8 to a 2-3/4 !

They actually drilled the hole for the 2-3/4 backset in the same spot, and filled the edge of the 2-3/8 hole with some joint compound on a wood door!

So now when you walk up you can clearly see a moon shaped sliver of the old hole filled with white stuff.

The deadbolt is stamped with BEST and the letter F on the edge of the door.

Clearly some in house bank maintenance guy ordered the wrong part... I was hoping they only did this to one door, but I turned around inside the ATM man trap area and the door behind me had the same thing done to it.

*rolls eyes*

I'll take a picture later today. But yes, its a nice small quiet town and the bank has wood doors with glass windows in them, not aluminum doors with Adams Rite MS style locks. and lots of cameras and a nice alarm I'm sure.

It's a real problem here in the states. They have offices in nearly all major cities. It's really serving as a catalyst towards licensing in most states. Real black eye to the profession.

My bank just moved to a brand new building and they are using Schlage cylinders on the front doors. I took a good look and they are SC1s not Everest or Primus I couldn't believe it.

I've used them on old wooden door's that people have pryed(?) open, and think they make the door look great.
