My Abloy 330 Classic Cutaway

Picked the case up earlier from a friend at the machine shop. I marked out the cuts I wanted with electrical tape, and they seem to be absolutely perfect for the locking bar side.....but could be a little deeper in places to show the discs when they are idle....plenty of time to get that done now I have a better idea of where to cut or not.

I've got another 3 Abloy Classic pads like this.....I aim to have all three cutaway, & might be up for a swap for something else :)

Just to add to this, save starting a new thread.

Here's a failed attempt at an Abus cutaway :( It was routed too deep, and the pins & springs can't hold themselves in.

To remedy this, I'll be heating up some clear perspex and molding it into the recess, then once it fits snug I'll drill the pin bible out so it grooves the perspex nicely. Then it will have a polish :) It can be saved!!

I've been playing with it today, and can visualize a way to rout it so it appears the disc tumbler is floating, with a little rail to keep the bar in.

I'm going to have this one routed out & keep it as my test one....But the MK2 & MK3 are sitting on the shelf ready to be done with little windows in the lock as opposed to milling in right from the edge.

:)

I tried that with the Protec version and the DBS didn't come out well, so i milled the edge away as well.
