zinnat creditcard padlock?

Postby mr_chris79 » 1 Apr 2008 14:10

wel here goes,i think this post will get deleted but what the hey!, has anyone got one of these locks, its called a zinnat and it uses a credit card with four holes in a pattern punched through it,you slide it into a groove and push to open, wel ive spent hours trying to manipulate the pins without any luck... until now! if you strike the side of the padlock opposite where you put the card in with sharp crack the shackle pops right open!, i know this isnt picking it open as such and more of a bypass but i though id share it!

mods.. feel free to delete at will!
if everyone who tried something new liked it but didnt bother telling anyone else there would never be anything new to try...

I borrowed one of these from work and tried it out - The lock was flimsy enough to rip apart with your hands, so personally I have no problems with that bypass being mentioned. Those luggage locks are there simply to alert you that somebody has gone through your luggage... Most airports I've been at have never looked too kindly on use of an actual padlock that has any strength. They butchered my case when I attached an Ingersoll for a joke.

I did open it once, by using two tension wrenches and kinda jiggling them. I'll look to see if we have any left lying around. :)

Jaakko, I'm also very sorry that it is Finnish. =) ... but numbers are universal and one of those photos gave us the Patent Number.
