What Lock Now?

Postby Michael4d » 5 Apr 2008 21:47

Hello All,

I ordered the SouthOrd PXS-14 Lock Pick Set about 2 weeks ago.
I made a practice board that fits 5 locks (Kwikset) and I modified the locks
as I read on another post. (Beginner’s Lockpicking Exercise by digital_blue viewtopic.php?t=10677 ) The first lock has 1 pin the second has 2 pins and so on.
Within a couple of days I could pick the 5 pin lock any time I wanted.
So I made another board that holds 3 locks, (Weslock) figuring it would take me a while to pick all 3 locks and to my surprise I had all three locks picked within 5 minutes.
So now I’m thinking “This is funâ€

I'd be careful of picking your way into apartments too. It is possible to damage a lock by picking it. Could drop a pin into the keyway, crush the springs, break the pick in the lock, or any number of other unforseen ways. Picking locks that are in use is considered a bad thing in this community.

You could also run the risk of being blamed for things gone missing if it becomes known that you pick your way into vacant units, even if it is permissible by the management. Tenants that see it happen might not feel so safe and when they can't find that diamond earring or misplaced power tool you could be the first thing that pops into their heads.

Just my .02.

The two big rules we live by in this community are: 1. Don't pick locks you don't own. and 2. Don't pick locks that are in use. Welcome to the community!

Do your hobby picking on your OWN time, not your employers....

What is the next lock I should learn.
Nothing to hard.
But something that would be considered the next step.

The next thing you should learn is the rules of this site and of locksport. Read the rules of the site, and stop picking locks on apartment doors. Thread Locked.
