Please, spend some time with your girlfriend/boyfriend/inter-species-partner, go out for a drink with your mates, go for a walk... Do anything really.

Just don't waste your time complaining about spam on an Internet forum. The mods and admin all work hard, and do what they can. How about you post something useful yourself, so the next person to log onto this site can see something useful - a pathos of knowledge amidst a sea of spammery... Credit to whoever can tell me what book that is based on. :)

We've got snow in the South-East as well. It's started setting and I'd guess it's at half an inch, maybe. :)

I wasn't having a dig at you, and I think you realised this. If you have some time on your hands, drag up the ancient threads - You'll find things that are very useful, and also things that you probably won't see posted these days. We had some great members in the past that sadly left this site - The things they wrote are still here though.

Well I hope this snow doesn't stay around until tomorrow - I'm supposed to be going to West Sussex tomorrow.

I know good idea float around here from time to time regarding spam control.

Is there a way that phpBB can do The Turing Test (a gif with random letters that the user must type in) either during initial user registration or when logging in. (not needed for individual posts on the board, just logging in)

"The most commonly used Turing Test (named after a computer scientist Alan Turing) is called CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart)."

visit captcha.net for more on this method.

Please review this thread also and correct your sig size.

Also, the admins/mods/spam control have to sleep, eat, work and attempt to have a social life also... (and normally on weekends, we are all pretty liquored up...) (well, I know some of us are)

Also, if you don't see anyone online, the best place to find someone who is on the mod/admin/spamcontrol team is in the IRC chat. :D

That is why I joined the spam team also. But someone always beats me to the 'kill' of it. :D

We do what we can while on the site. Great job done by all!

Mr. Chris.
The reason for the spam is all the mods and “spam mods" are in Hawaii for the quarterly Mod Meeting, living it up, and in general having a good time.
Sorry, I was too busy emptying my margarita glass to check the spam for a few hours , but you can be sure it wouldn’t happen again ….

I think we might be able to consider you for a “spam modâ€

No , No we can speak of the meetings, just NEVER the when or where or the topics discussed.

and NEVER are we to mention the lovely/ friendly native girls in public.

The jet ... well everbody knows about that anyway.
Perhaps I should ease up on that bottomless glass of margaritias :D
