Channell Lock made in China 32MM

Anyone know anything about it? Is it fairly easy to pick?

easy to pick? probably yes, but there are so many locks made in China, maybe you could post a picture?

Cheers,
mh

Channell Lock made in China 32MM

The brand name seems to be Channell, and it has 32MM near the key hole if that helps.

No. Just a small thin lock looks like brass or at least that color with a steel looking shackle. Near the key hole there is a small hole that a small nail or something like that could be inserted. It is not as small as a luggage lock. The opening is probably 32 Milimeter since it has the 32MM on it. I was hoping someone might have a cut away pic of the inside of one.

lol. I get the joke now. I guess I should have said the Brand name is Channell. It is spelled different than the brand of pliers though.

Can't say I've ever seen one... but it *sounds* like it's just a cheap brass padlock that's got a relative no-name stamped on it.

If I had to guess (and given that it's 32mm), I'd speculate:

- 5 pins, rather small compared to a deadbolt
- probably got a few spools in there, as these seem to be unnaturally common in cheap padlocks these days
- likely requires a very gentle hand for picking and very little action (or movement) of the pins to set them.

Closest comparison I can think of to what I'm imagining would be a Garrison brass padlock (that can be seen at Canadian Tire, not that I think that will help you much :) ).

But it's purely speculation on my part. I'd try a short hook, lighten up on tension, and try and just gently brush the pins as opposed to consciously lifting them. When you feel a "give" in the plug, apply slightly more tension and then start to lift at each pin until you feel the plug pulling back. When you feel that, lift that pin a little harder while applying moderately firm tension. (What you're trying to do here is overcome a spool pin). You may need to repeat this process of beating the spool pin as needed.

...

Or, I could be completely wrong and I've just set you back two weeks of practice.

Happy picking!

If you search google for 'channell lock', you find this video:

Looks almost like some pervert is standing behind the camera pointing a gun at him and forcing him to make this video.
