hi ive been looking at the wire lever lifter thats advertised on uk bumpkeys ,ive been trying to make the tool but im not convinced it can be manipulated under the leverpack as in the vid without taking a file to the lock.would be a good tool if it worked ?

Only works on certain lever configurations.

So it won't open every lock, in fact, it opens none of the ones I have in stock (about 8).

There is a video on youtube that shows it in action, and a close up, so you could probably make one yourself.
It's all about the tension . . .

it can work on limited key configurations on the bench, but even the ones it works on once fitted in a door, is a different story again.

I assume you mean the fortress pick? If i was a locky i would make/buy one anyway. even if it only works on 1 in 20 locks its a time saver over all.

Same thought here, I think its worth having in your tool box, 'just in case', better to have more opening options available. Even if, its hit and miss.

If you were a lockie you would buy the fortress decoder or curtain picks and learn to use them so you got a better than embarrasing result most times.

This wire contraption is a You Tube myth to get the OP his five minutes of glory, it works on the bench with half the cover plate removed so you can see what's going on but I can tell you it doesn't work on the door when the lever pack is properly compressed against the boltwork. I can't believe any self respecting lockie would even attempt it once tried in the workshop.

Same league as the tennis ball trick.

i totally agree,i always look at new ideas but as you say with lever pack compressed properly no llever config will alow wire to slip around the back past the bolt, but the idea kept me amused for an hour
