This site is very nice. I have long enjoyed the pleasures of Lock Picking, and it's nice to see such a large group of others enjoying it as well. I hope to be able to dwell here often!

Im living in California and have been doing some hobby and neighborhood friendly locksmith and alarm instalation work. I got bored of mowing lawns and the market was tight for that. These people started to come to me when they got locked out so I got a pick set. Recently I started to enjoy picking padlocks in my free time. However I am going to college in NJ and the laws on possesion are quite frightening so anyone who can clarify them would be of much help. Nice site. Thanks in advance.

Hi!
I'm Dave, 24. I live in the UK and have a thirst for knowledge that never seems to dry up
I happened upon this forum purely by chance while searching for keys for an alarm in work, but have taken to lurking frequently as locks have always intrigued me. The engineering and ingenuity involved in designing and bypassing lock mechanisms is my primary interest here.
Just purchased a few picks recently because I thought it would be a useful skill to have-another string to my bow, as it were. Not having any success at the moment but my obsessive drive to succeed will get the better of that!
Hello to you all, nice to see a sizeable British presence here too!

I first started lockpicking when i played Thief 3 (about a month ago ) and ive loved it since then. Haven't really told my mother what im up to but it'll come... with time.
Great site, and i'll be sure too contribute with my questions in a sensible way.
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door... And pick it.

Welcome to the forums. I know it can be hard to tell your parents that you're interested in lockpicking, because most parents jump to the conclusion that it is becuase you want to be a criminal. But if you present it to them the correct way they'll understand. Just don't hide it from them, if they find your tools then they really will think you're a criminal.
Read as much from the archives as you can, you'll notice there is a search button at the top of the page. Most everything you need to know about how to pick locks is in there already, the new posts are mostly about very specific subjects.
Again, welcome and I hope you contribute well to this community.

New today, just browsing the net looking for info on how to get a door open and came across this site.
Didn't expect to see so many people into lock picking, what have I been missing out on.
Wish I had come here last night now, it might have saved me a whole night of messing about.

HELLO!
My name is Jeff MacInnis (a.k.a. snapisimo), I am a locksmith specializing in automotive from Seattle, WA. U.S.A.
I’ve recently taken a position as an emergency road service technician. My new job brought with it many opportunities for emergency residential and commercial lockouts as well - hence a resurrection of interest with regard to manipulation. In an effort to sharpen manipulation skills I found this site. ‘Very much look forward to enjoying resources and participating.
Thank You,
...snapisimo

I originally went through schooling for locksmithing, but I eventually ended up in the computer field instead. Just the other day, while rambling through the attic looking for my tubular picks (a fellow employee lost the keys to his laptop cable lock)... I rediscovered my old hobby.
My first love was locks, I've build robotic dialers, struggled with sidebars and tasted occasional success in safes (not necessarily very good safes!), and I've still got a couple of KABA locks that I haven't mastered yet...
I'm a newbie here in your forums but an old rusty hand in the art.
Cheers to all.
Harold
