Just to let everyone know the latest scam.
There are now people going around saying they are servicing the terminals that people use to accept payment via credit card.
These scam artists are in fact not servicing anything, they are inserting a reading strip. This is the same thing they use at cash points to get peoples details. They then sit back and steal peoples card identities and make clone credit cards.
I have been in touch with both Barclays and Streamline and they are aware of the situation and are informing all the retailers that use their machines about the scam.
They both stated they never send out any engineer without a request from the retailer and that no one should allow any unathourised servicing of their equipment.
This scam is getting bigger as unlike cash point machines there are no cameras and retailers are usually targeted at busy periods.
Just thought i'd give you all the heads up. I will let as many people know as possible, please do the same.
