Another new kid on the block and also my first blog.
Presently the reason I joined is to help out a friend that purchased a 1890 era, Victor Lock Co, safe.
He has had it for several years and presumed that he could have opened it by now but alas, he and I with him, are reaching out for assistance.

ciriousp,
You wont likely find any help on that topic. Discussion of safe opening techniques is reserved for the advanced sections of this site. Your best bet is to bite the bullet and have a qualified locksmith/safe tech open it for you.
But don't let that stop you from hanging around and soaking up some of the other info available here.

Hello to all. I've kept coming across the boards for the past couple of years. They've been very informative and thought I would finally join.
I've really been into BEST SFIC cores/locks and master keying systems.
Just got my hands onto a Kwikset SmartKey which I'm still trying to pick (Yeah I know DE is easier).
I pick for fun/challenge. Most every pick I've used has been made out of wiper blades, but now im looking to get some spring steel locally and see how it works out.

Hello everyone!
My name is Matt, and I am a new member here. I joined because I am really interested in learning the locksmithing trade. I have just sent in my enrollment form for the Foley-Belsaw locksmithing course, and will hopefully be starting it real soon.
I've always been interested in mechanical things, and learning how they work, and had thought about locksmithing off and on through the years. But I never got around to doing anything about it. Then a few months ago my sister-in-law was visiting us, and she locked her car keys in her car. It was then that we discovered that our town doesn't even have a locksmith. So we had to phone one from out-of-town to come and get her car open.
So I saw a real opportunity here to learn locksmithing, and hopefully fill a need for the people of our town who don't have a local locksmithing service.
I'm looking forward to reading the posts, and getting to know and learn from you all.
Matt
