I see know that being crammed and hunched down in the corner would be painful after while. Ouch!
Does the turning of the cylinder raise the bolt on those or does it need to be raised manually with that knob on top?
NickBristol is correct. When the bolt is depressed, manually, the key will deadbolt the lock. The lock is definitly a rip off but a good safety measure.
Thanx for the feedback on the photos in this thread. After my previous thread ( viewtopic.php?t=34421) which was a total disaster, I was a bit sceptical about posting pictures. on a similar topic, I'm in charge of health and safety at my shop and as far as my province is concerned there is no such thing as an accident and no unsafe (whether it is immediate danger or even awkward posturing causing soreness) job should be performed. I have no idea how that's supposed to work. If we refused to do all work that wasn't 100% safe we'd be refusing a LOT of work.

On the other hand, my size is disadvantageous when it comes to pushing heavy things around. I know we live in an era when people really shouldn't be required to perform feats of strength in their workplace, sometimes it happens. Especially when you sell safes and mailboxes.
400 bucks? why not just lift the hood by cutting the solenoid or something and getting a power wire to the wire for the power unlock and touch them?
Might have a relay under the hood lol.

it was a sarcastic joke.. but still... breaking the side glass might be cheaper... to not be so destructive picking into the hood and getting in that way might work if he had access through the back seats. having an aftermarket alarm with power doors works 2.. that or that onstar crap.

You still don't get it...The mechanism was busted and the door couldn't be unlocked, period. He obviously had access to the inside of the car, since he put his arm through the door where the power window switches go.

oh so then he shoulda just broke the glass... or attached a big chain inside the lock and attached the other in to a F-350 dually.

Breaking the glass is cheaper? Hmm, how much is the side glass and then you count how many hours did you spent switching that new one in there...

ya labor is a pain. if he got a new door for 400... then he has to have labor.. and they'd destroy the door or glass any case... to get a new glass for like less than 100 and just remove your door panel (screws) yourself and have them put it in (or google how) would be just as much as the glass is... less u paid labor.
the other thing... was it a 4 door? why couldn't they slimjim the other 3 doors? can't one of those commercial popalock places do that?
