Hi, can anybody help me. Havig no luck picking a Tri-Circle 265 padlock. Is it possible to pick it one pin at a time. Feedback is confusing.

it possible for sure, what kind of tools are you using and how much tension are you using...also what is confusing you about it, you may need to learn how to set spools.

I have tried light and heavy tension. I'm using Southord MPXS-14 lockpicking tools. I have tried with the short hook and the diamond head tools. My best efforts was when I was scrubbing with a snake-rake and using a medium tension, but I seem to run into a dead end after four of the pins are set.

I'm new to lockpicking (I suppose thats obvious) and have been successful at opening cheap padlocks that dont have security pins. I have read up on working with mushroom pins and have tried very light tension but I dont seem to be able to set any pins like that. Perhaps I need more practise on less difficult locks.

This is an age old question that receives the same answer everytime regardless of the lock in question, you're starting out on a lock that's most likely above your skill level. You got the right tools, but the lock is going to continue to rip the wind out of your sails until your skill set increases.

Best advice for now, go out and buy a repinnable kwickset deadbolt or another name brand repinnable deadbolt, go through DB's walk through guide and DO the lessons he provides with as much time and dedication that you're obviously putting into the Tri lock and you will succeed.

Thanks for your responses. I think your correct about my skill level being the problem. Can you tell me where I can get DB's walk through guide so I can start the exercises

It's a stickied subject in the Pick-Fu section of this forum. This along with constant practice will increase your initial pick-fu kills, er skills. Then I also suggest reading the sticky "Seven Habitual Behaviors...." in the same area.

You are well on your way to a very fun and possibly fulfilling hobby. Welcome to the forums.
