On eBay, I see a lot of "depth keys", and they usually come in sets. I know why you would want a key with all maximum depth cuts, but what would a locksmith need with the other 9?
They are used for cutting keys. If you have a key with cuts of 59348, you would use the 5 key for the first cut, the 9 key for the second, and so on until you have a finished key with the proper cuts. It's basically like duplicating a key one cut at a time.

So you would use this method if you knew depths but didn't have the key?
