Not Turning Properly

I've just started off picking some locks around the house, and I keep having an issue with the deadbolts - I can get all the pins set fairly easily and turn it about 180 degrees, but the lock just stops there, refusing to turn far enough for it to open (which is just barely past this point with my key)... Does anyone know what the issue might be here?

You bet. Common problem on some locks.

What you've got going on is that the driver pins (top pins) have dropped down into the keyway (which is now upside down) impeding the rotation. Simply take the back side of your pick, insert, and lift (all the while turning) and you'll be able to carry on past the 180 point.

The second problem is picking locks that are in use. Do not pick locks in use, because you might break them or weaken their security or mess-up otherwise.

Just go to your local hardware store and buy separate locks to pick and to repin, much safer, easier and fun
