My first cutaway lock

Postby steve0527 » 7 Jun 2008 2:38

Hey everyone, today I made my first cutaway lock. The lock is from a Brinks Deadbolt, it has 5 pins, 2 of them are spools. Im going to put 5 security pins in it when I get the chance.

Pretty nice cutaway, but isn't it a good idea to cut the plug too? they're always more informative to others when people can see the entire pin stacks :)

It is a good first attempt. Does it still work perfectly?

It works perfect, when I put it back in the lock, I could not tell the difference. It only took 2 min to make the next one I make, I will spend more time on.

I cut plugs up all the time. I never have problems or get complaints. Yes, it greatly reduces the structural integrity of the plug, but its a learning (or decorative) item, not a security device.

I very strongly advise against bumping a cut away that has the plug cut.

@OP, what are you using to make the cut away?
