Took me about two hours(maby longer :roll:

No problem man, at least this is something I can contribute that people may actually use :lol:

its not like its a big secret, and for some people its even common knowledge :shock:

And no harm in the name mix up it was gonna be bumper regarding bumpkeys, but i misspelled it and just kept it.

Just picked up the 142 earlier today, took me a few minutes but was able to get it. It feels as if the first pin is a spool pin, though I'm not sure how to feel for those.

I've also been able to open the 142 with just one rake quite a number of times already!

I got a 575DAT today and it is a 5 pin lock and pins 3&4 are spools, its a little brass number found in auto part stores or the auto department of your favorite store.

Never seen the 590, I'll have to look for that.

Regarding the 140, in the one I've got, the first pin is serrated and the 3rd and 4th pins feel like spool pins.

Some laminated Master Locks (ie. #1,#3, #5) can be bought blank. This means that the owner must shear the pins himself, by inserting the desired key and hitting the cylinder into the lock using a special plug tool. Convenient if you have a lost or broken lock in a set of Master's keyed alike. The point? Many times these locks have serrations from failed attempts to shear the pins on the first strike. Having picked hundreds of laminate Master locks, maybe this will be helpful to someone frustrated with an otherwise simple lock.
