Just got a new lock :-D

Well.. not really *just* but I just now decided to post about it.

So I picked up this lock in Mexico (yeah yeah.... ) and I thought to post about it, kinda because I don't want to study for my government test tomorrow

Anywho, it's a 12 pin dimple lock. Really interesting, and I'm having a helluva time trying to pick it. There's no space in between the pins

its got 4 pins on the top like a normal pin tumbler, but then 4 on the right hand side of the keyway, and 4 on the left hand side.

I'll try and get some pictures up for y'all, but in the mean time, any tips on picking it would be appreciated, seeing as the guy who normally tells me how to pick things has gone AWOL  :P

not quite. The key is flat, and it has little "dimples" drilled into it. I'm in the process of getting pictures up.

Well, I probably should have just put this in with the last post, but I didn't think I'd get pictures up so fast.... o.O Never underestimate the will to procrastinate I guess.

And sorry for the horrid quality. Not much I can do about it though, seeing as I don't have a proper camera atm....

Side of the key. Only 4 of the 8 dimples actually push in pins. The bottom 4 "dimples" are the top 4 "dimples" on the opposite side.

Top of the Key. hard to tell, but there are 4 "dimples" on there.

Key and Lock.

Keyway. Really hard to tell, but you can see 3 of the pins. I'll try and get a text representation, but... yeah.

As for the keyway, its kinda like this, where * is a pin and lines are the edge of the keyway:

YAY!

I just got this open for the first time.

I used a really short hook (almost like a Falle #1)

I kinda just went through, like normal lifting the top pins, then the right, then the left, then the top, in a circular manner until it popped open :-D
