Diebold Vault Lock

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Postby Svaroh » 25 Jun 2008 1:56

OK, so i didnt wait till tomorrow. the wife'll be mad because i stayed up late to do this, but i felt like doing it now :P

the lock is from the firedoor in a Diebold vault installed in 1906. the diagram of the key has all measurements in thousandths of an inch. i excluded the depth of the cuts as i didnt think it would be relevant to another lock but can give them if it would be helpful.

i hope this is helpful the OP and to anyone else that happens to have an old lever lock that perplexes them :P

Thanks for the post Svaroh. It helps me at least, i just got a couple safety deposit box locks off ebay they appear to be very similar in design to those.

Why was this moved from the open to here? There is nothing advanced in the posting, as lock breakdowns have always been accepted in the Joe Public side. The line, if you ask me, has been drawn on the picking methods and above.

I thought the same thing but I'm not a mod so who knows.

Possibly because it was used in a vault...but since it was used in a vault like a century ago, I'm personally comfortable with it in public. If anyone disagrees, feel free to move it back to Advanced.

wow. my 3rd post and it gets tossed around forum to forum. i didnt mean to create a such a stir :P i asked for help with something in my first post and soon saw an oppourtunity to help someone else. i didnt expect a kafuffle over a 102 year old lock. ive never tried picking it. didnt have to as i was able to take it apart to make a key. it was on the inner firedoor, not the heavy vault door (which has a combination lock) if that makes anyone feel better :/
