A good place to get picks is at lockpickshop.com. You only need a small set to start with. Get the Lock Picks - 14 piece kit with grips or the Lock Picks Set- 8 piece kit they will be a good set for someone starting off.

You could also look at southord.com they have good picks and low costs, but they dont send to Canada. You could also buy a set from someone if you look in the Buy sell trade area you might find a set. Some of the members here make great picks. I think ln21 has a set for sale. He makes some of the best picks around.

Hope this helps.

i guess it really depends on how much you want to spend. if you want to spend more you can get the picks with the better handles. or you can spend more and get more picks with the regular handles :P

I bought from LockPickShop and selected a variety of picks, then bought the rubber/plastic handles that you slip-on.

They work fine, have never broken, and I'm gonna buy some more soon, hopefully the ones with the metal handles.

You only need a few tools to begin with, and you'll soon find which tool you prefer.

you could consider individual peterson picks... I say this purely because what a beginner really needs is a tension wrench, a hook pick, and other things to play with... peterson let you cut the crap out of a set and just order individual ones (I recommend spring steel over the others they offer... much cheaper, and really good still ^^,)
