I don't understand these problems

Postby Ryusuke » 26 Jun 2008 22:38

I've tried picking many different locks getting the same error, so my procedure is
1) insert tension wrench in the bottom, aapply slight torque in the direction I would turn the key
2) slide the pick in, start picking from the back
okay wtf so my problem is the pins won't stay up, or click unless I turn it in the other direction but then it won't open...

point is I can't pick locks why why except this one time...lol!

thanks ans

Put the pick into the back and find the first pin than apply the torque. Also you should try less torque, the torque is the key to picking locks.

You'll have to be more specific.

1. What kind of lock/locks are you trying to pick?

2. What kind of picks/tension wrenches are you using?

3. How much tension are you using?

4. How many times have you had success? You joined in February and it sounds like you have only picked one lock?

5. Most important- have you tried the digital blue picking exercise from this site?

The order will be arbitrary, not back to front.

You have to work your way over the pins constantly, finding the 'binding' pin every run-through.

In other words, apply tension, and pick from the back to the front, and when you feel a pin 'set', then start again, but without disturbing that pin. Every time a pin has set, there will be a new binding pin to set.

The LSI guide discusses this principal, as well as many others, and I would highly recommend it for beginners.

Hope it helps,
