I buy it at my local electronics shop.

the brand is
iCO-Rally
ProFIT
General purpose
heat shrink tubing

The sizes i use the most for making picks are
3/16" and 3/8"

if you don't have a good local electronic shop, Harbor Frieght has some good sized pieces for rather cheap.

At my local shop, they sell a slightly more expensive ($2.35 compared to $1.75) which is a 3 to 1 shrink ratio. Comes in all the normal colors, plus purple :P

ACE hardware and Fred Meyer have packages with the same sizes for pick handles (Ace being more expensive), rather than selling you assorted sizes that won't do the standard handle much good. For color though, i've only seen black.

RadioShack has the best selection, but Harbour Frieght tool has the best price. So far I have found they have 8 feet of black 1/8 for 3, or green, or you can buy a case of 120 piece with yellow and green stripes for 12. It just so happens I can get a pack of RadioShack 12 Piece for 3 bucks, but that isn't the normal price. I can't find anywhere else that sells clear.

You want to get the kind that is the proper size. Trial and error. I use 1\4 3\8 and the occasional 5\8. 2:1 shrink ratio. Mostly because it is what is available. If I could find 3:1 in purple like Archive555 is talking about I would do that too. Lots of posts on this I think. Maybe look 'em up and see what everyone has said.

It's cool that you think I'm cool, but you don't sound very cool when you say it. It's a joke, I get it, but I'm not cool. We're still cool, but don't call me cool. Cool? And don't be so hard on yourself. I never met a guy great at anything that was always putting himself down. It's not a fact, or advice, it's just something to think about.
