New Homebrew Set

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

New Homebrew Set

I just finished up my new homebrew set
All you 80's kids should get a real kick out of this.

Pick Case

Pick Case Open

Angled Shot of All Picks in a Row Next to Case

Close-up on Snake Rake

Straight On Shot of All Picks in a Row Next to Case

The last shot gives you a better idea of the sheen. The angled shot turned out like that, because the ceiling is black 8)

I love that picture. I'm gonna be making some more sets over the next few weeks. I've got infected with the creative bug (or something else). And I'm gonna try to have a special case for each set and put all of my random skills to the test :)

Cool picks. I like the bogota styled one. I think I see some little teeth on the tensioner too. Right?
I have been keeping some on my desk for a couple weeks in this
NintendoTin
It doesn't have cool buttons to press though. :( Very super spy. Can't wait to see the next pick set and case.

Dude, is that thing vintage? I dig it. And yes, you've got a good eye, the wider side of the tension wrench has little teeth on the edge similar to the peterson serrated ones.

No, it is not vintage. If you have a Family Video or Sam Goody in your area you may have seen them selling the mint mushroom tins. I found this in a similar Nintendo themed display stand. Good judgement on the toothed tensioner. I almost put my eye out several times using top tension before I made one. Are you planning handles for the picks in the future, or do you prefer minimalizm for portablility?

Usually I prefer something to grab on to, but for this I had to design the picks just for the case. The picks work just fine but it takes a little extra concentration trying to keep my sausage fingers on those tiny handles. As for future sets, my heads been rolling around a lot of different ideas for handles. I'm thinking about carving a handle out of wood and making a mold out of epoxy putty. Then I could make the handle out of anything I could melt down or comes as a liquid or formable clay.

There are some good ideas in recent posts about handles made from clay you might wanna check out. As for wood I have made a few with different kinds of wood handles, and while they look pretty the handles don't last as long and are easy to ding, crack, etc banging around against other tools. Sounds like you have some good ideas though. Let us seem 'em when they are done.
