ady1989's new pick set "worklog"

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Ok I believe it's time for an update. I've been keeping busy working on an 87 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z. Turbo cars are a lot of fun  . I picked up some shrink tubing because I found a place that sells it cheap (paying 10$ for a pack that doesn't even have enough to do 3 picks from Radio Shack is a complete ripoff). I gave the picks a little makeover and they are much more comfortable to hold now. I'll eventually make more picks but I just don't have the time right now. Excuse the crappy pictures, the picks are still nice and mirror smooth.

Haha, OK I hope posting pics off topic pics is not against the rules.

The pics were taken the day I got the car. It was dirty, had a blown power steering pump (lol look at the leak) and a whole bunch of other stuff. It got it in good enough shape to be my new daily driver, but I have some interesting plans for it in the future. I want a body kit, huge wing, neons, etc. Just kidding. I am going to put a Garrett DBB turbo on it and tune it to about 250whp at street boost levels, 300whp for the track. Not bad for a daily driver FWD car :).

I'm pretty sure posting off topic is against the rules, but I asked first. Body kit, huge spoiler, and neons is the way to go. In fact maybe paint your face on the hood and the crack of your a$$ on the back.

A G. double ball bearing turbo? I don't even know anyone who services these engines. This isn't an automotive thread however, it is a pick thread. Maybe you could sneak the pictures in when it is track ready? Awesome.

I do all the work myself lol. If any mods have a problem with me putting these pictures up, feel free to take them down and delete the car related posts.

Those are some awesome looking picks. You need to enter the pick-making contest Locknewbie21 started.

Nice car, too.

I'd vote for them.
Well, depends on the competition I suppose.
But you've definitely got a shot at it :D

Those picks are very nice looking. Did you follow a design or did you free-hand them, Ady1989?

Thanks guys! The picks were free handed and eyeballed when bending. The whole idea of this set was to be small, lightweight, as simple and practical as possible. Because the of the one piece design, feedback is excellent. I will end up making this into a 50-piece or so set. So far I have all the essentials and then some. I mainly use hooks and rakes.

I would like to make a nice case for them, but I just don't know how to hold them in because of their bogota-like design.

I'm already on there, I spent a few hours in the garage today working on a pick prototype design for that contest. I'll have pictures up tonight.

However, I will be gone on vacation soon so the final pick will have to wait another two weeks or so.
