Hair Clips

Hai.

Just sharing my experience with everyone, those of you who have not used a hair clip as a tension wrench i'd seriously suggest it, might sound strange but i find they work great! In some situations i've actually reached for it instead of my other wrenchs, but thats just my opinion. They require no heating or anything and bend quite easily while staying strong.

This is its size in comparison to a short southord wrench.

And various ways i find it most effective using.



All you need to do is to grab some pliers, put the top part in as far as you want it like for length ect and bend it down. You will need a vice to put it in if you want a twist. Or 2 sets of pliers

For all newbies starting out who don't have a proper set yet if your looking for a quick easy wrench there ya go

When I first started picking, before I bought some 'proper' picks, I used a paperclip and a hairpin

I used a paperclip and a Uniball pen clip when I started. Pen clips make great improvised wrenches because they're made of spring steel.

amen to that i love my pen wrench more than my allen key but im still all ghetto only in the sport a few days

I have a flat steel barrette type of thing I found on the ground, put it somewhere, havent seen it in a year or two, but I do believe that it could shim open a master combo lock or other shimable padlock without modification beyond the bending that using it would cause.

That looks like it has a decent flex to it! My improvised wrenches usually consist of carboard folding staples that don't have any flex (heh, can't complain, opened a shrouded with it.)

I tried a screwdriver and a paperclip before I got my southord. Results were unsatisfactory.
