When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

feedback

Postby raimundo » 21 Jul 2008 6:49

I bet those pointy jabs on the handles give good feedback when a pins sets

really reminds me of that movie 'bound' in which gina gershon has lockpick earrings.

of course, some of my bogota picks could be used as collar points.

try to hide the picks in some kind of wearable jewelry, like a pin or something.

very nice - my first thought about the pointy handles was: "now I know what klingon lock picks look like!"

Seriously, I have made special picks just for the movie screen, usually I make something a bit wider than a normal pick as these things are small and it may be better to have something that will show on camera and not just be a closeup of fingers, but actually show the actors face, while still getting some part of the tool to show up.
Noticed that that new show on cable "burn notice" puts on two seconds of actualy lockpicking, and the other day, he actually explained checkwashing and demonstrated it in one of the shows. the actor and the writing are a bit smarmy but when I watch it Im looking for him to 'bust a move', do something interesting and real, but checkwashing is a bit over the top.

We're a little behind in Aus, we just got Season 2 on.
In the first or second episode of season 2, his friend is trying to pick a lock, and he asks him what's taking so long. He replies that most locks aren't normally 9-pin dimple locks. Heh. At least it's good to see that they do in fact have at least a basic knowledge of what's going on. He even used a twist-flex tension wrench :P
