you may have read my other post of getting better at lock picking.

well ive been practicing and i finally can open that master 3 lock like nothing.
spp and i really feal each pin bind. its almost like a joke its so easy.

so i got a 575. it took me a while to get over the security pins but once i got the technique its really easy too.

i can pick my bedroom door lock as well. i dont think there were any security pins just really stiff.

so what kinda locks should be my next step.?

oh and lastly. i can only spp the 575 using a hairpin shaped into a small hook.
the pick i got from southord was just alittle to big. should i invest in slimline picks for similar locks or the hairpin is fine?
i wear glasses sometimes but sometimes i dont

I'm fairly new here, but yeah the masterlock 3/5 are childs play. But what about making your own equipment? Then you are not beholding to finding someone to buy from. I'm more of a do-it-yourself kind of person when i start things initially. later on I might purchase equipment, but it's been a blast and relatively cheap to make my own picks. I've been picking up windshield wiper blades from autozone every day or so.

dopp.

not dodging your "what's next" lock question, as I don't have a clue. I'm just having a blast making equipment.

That's cool. I'm scouting craigslist right now for a bench vise, but I've seen some good deals on bench grinders and dremel tools on there as of late.

You should get your self a re-keyable lock like a Master 911 or a American Lock you could also get a Kwikset door lock. The best part about the locks you can re key it as many times as you want.

Also read around there are like 100 topics asking this question you should always read first than post if you cant find what you are looking for.

Could i maybe suggest one of the euro cylinders? They are pretty challenging, not to expensive and good to practice on. Look for a brand like ERA, Yale or Chubb. They come in plenty of varieties, most have security pins and finding a 6 pin one shouldn't be to difficult.

Get the repinable euro cylinder or repin a padlock. These pins can be changed because as you continuiosly pick a lock there will be some wear on these parts. The same pins can also be used but in a different combination. Also other security pins eg. mushroom pins can be added to make the picking process more challenging.

Another hint is to never pick a lock that's in use. One day the lock won't work and then there's trouble.

Have fun
