However, I will be gone on vacation soon so the final pick will have to wait another two weeks or so.

I don't have a rifle yet, I'm still waiting for my firearms license to be mailed to me. I will buy an SKS once I have my license.

do windshield wiper inserts work jut as well as street sweeper bristles for making the bogota style picks? i.e., can they be cold bended without fracturing?

Yes but you have to find the same size insert as the street sweeper bristles. Around me they are typically about the same size as the smallest inserts I find. And yes I cold bend them all the time and have only had them break if I'm trying to bend them over a sharp 90 degrees .

Same size... as in thickness and/or width? since length can just be trimmed up. I went to a local junkyard today and got a bunch of the windshield wiper inserts, so I'm gonna try my hand at bogota making pretty soon
I've noticed from the ones I got that the width varies from very thin (about 2mm) to pretty thick (about 5 mm). I'll probably save the very thin ones for making some smaller type tension wrenches, so what is the optimum width and thickness for the bogotas? or I guess what's the normal dimensions of a street sweeper bristle?

I never had luck making picks out of street sweeper bristles. I find that they bend way too easily when used as picks (since you have to remove material). They do make awesome tension wrenches however.

Ady,
Those are some beautiful handles. Nice work. next time I find some Plexiglas kicking around I'm going to give that a go.
What Glue did you use to fuse them together? Did you use a clamp while gluing?
Cheers

Very impressive Ady. I've been struggling with finding good handle material. The opaque plexi looks great. Any idea how thick it was when you started?
Again, great job.

Thanks! I used JBquick epoxy but it came apart recently the best way to go would be epoxy in the middle and 2 screws to hold it all together. I didn't use a clamp even though I should have... They also make some plastic/plexi glue that fuses the two pieces together so it will never come apart, but I forgot the name.
