Any Locksport-freindly events in the south/eastern US?

Postby nostromo » 11 Aug 2008 18:12

Reading the posts about DEFCON and HOPE is quite the tease. Especially the rekeying and picking competitions. Not having the budget for "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" or an overseas trip, does anyone know of any similair fun / conferences on the (south) east cost of the US?

Best I can find on the 'net is SERLAC, a continuing education locksmith show in Orlando this October. URL is http://www.serlac.com/. They advertise daylong workshops for $100-$200/day (up to three days), some evening (unspecified) lectures and a vendor room.

Anybody know what they are like? Are they supportive of locksport folks? Membership seems to take 2-3 references and active shop ownership / locksmith employment.

Thanks, scifipirate! Checked'em out. $20 conference fee- wa-hoo! Doesn;'t seem like there's any lox on the menu as yet, I'll keep checking.

Anybody else know of any events in the south of the US?

Beleive it or not, one of the BIG events in Pensacola is the annual "Mullet Tossing" contest at the Florabama lounge. Huge crowds. Lots of beer. Tells you something about the culture here . . .

Yeah, I know. I used to live in Louisiana. I loved it, but they do things different down there.

Contact DougFarre on this site for the Locksport International chapter near you. I believe he heads the biggest chapter there is.
