I have a lock on my door. THe kind whith a keyhole on the outside a ring assembly on the frame and then a locking mechanism with a knob that attaches to the inside part of the door.
It appears as if someone has been tampering with the lock from the outside. When I come home the entire lock cylinder appears to be loos and at times may even be able to move out towards me a little. The cylinder was very tight before. On one occasion the door was actually opened after being locked. This is being done by someone I know. I was told at the hardware store to by a cylinder guard plate.
My question is, what method or technique is being used to defeat this lock?
I saw online somewhere where it mentioned that someone may try to pry or turn the entire cylinder with a pipe wrench to defeat the lock. What are the details of any method or technique that applies here?
