I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "soz". An explanation is certainly in order. Sargents may or may not be considered high security, depending on which model you have. If it is standard-looking pin tumbler, it is most likely not high security. Generally, we consider Sargents to be a mid-level pick. Sargents locks can be found here. This will probably help in identification of your lock.

If your Sargent cylinder is a standard cylinder there are usually no security pins. Sargent usually uses very long top pins and bottom pins that are round instead of pointed where they meet the key. They are otherwise normal in all aspects of pin tumbler locks. Sargent does use a different slope angle between cuts and duplicates are often difficult to make accurately. This can also lead to a difficult combination where a small pin is shielded by a long pin. This makes normal picking very difficult.

Sargent

Postby selim » 29 Aug 2008 18:23

When pinning a Sargent cylinder the pin stack's must equal 15.When you use a # 6 bottom pin the top pin should be # 9,a bottom pin of # 9 top pn # 6,ect,ect.
I hope I explained it good enough.

Sargents can be very difficult to pick. I've only picked one or two in the field. I believe they have a very high MACS rating, allowing for some complex pinning. Good luck pinning them, they're also known for having a serious number of keyways!

Not at all. The Sargent can be a great lock to learn on.
