My peghook lock

Years ago, before they came out with these magnetic key versions, I made a special hasp for locking product on peghooks. Naturally, you have to secure the peghook down, but the idea is a simple one, made from flat stock. The two hasps scissor together.

The only thing even like it I've ever seen are lock-out hasps like the one on this page:

The idea of them being that you turn a machine off and use the lock-out hasp to prevent it from being turned back on while maintenance are working on it.

Each enginner working on the machine puts his own padlock through the hasp and only takes it off again when they have done their part. The hasp ensures everyones safety, since the machine cannot be turned back on again until everyone has removed their padlock and so has paased their part of the machine as fit to use.

Funny, I used to sell those lockout hasps. The simuliarities never occured to me.

The similarities wouldn't strike you - I have often invented something, only to find the exact same thing already exists. At least in your case, it is only similar - Mine are often all but identical!

Actually, if you ever read many patents, you will soon find pretty much the same idea can be patented for a slightly different purpose. You idea seems far more different and perfectly patentable to me!

I like it, simple, cheap to make and effective with no obvious way round it (short of mutilating the whole thing, or stealing the whole thing). Actually, I think it is a marketable idea...

I like it but I wonder if the flexibility of those peg hooks would allow you to pull up on the hook and slide it out. you could use a slightly flanged tip for the hook to prevent that.
