2008 MLAA Lock and Security Expo (Aus)

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

2008 MLAA Lock and Security Expo (Aus)

Postby Mutzy » 4 Oct 2008 0:35

Hey all, i just got back home last night, from the MLAA conference, Gold Coast, QLD.

I had a good look around the stalls, all the usual (Australian) suspects were there, the Locksmith Supply Co. area, AssaAbloy's Lockwood area; and the showing of the MT5/MT5+ high security cylinder design (if anyone has links/pictures of the Mul-t-lock design and keys, send me a PM. The key MT5+ key I was given (pictures to follow soon) looked like the same general MTL key.), the Lock & Key area, with the EVVA DPS (and 3KS iirc) and various new and improved locks, KABA with their biometric and experT series dimple locks and Australian Lock Company with their Bilock high security systems and Salto proximity systems.

I went to a couple of courses in the afternoon, on the Government's T4 High security lock rating and testing scheme and a hybrid manipulation technique for combination locks. Quite interesting, i'm definetly glad i went to them both.

And for your viewing pleasure, i took a few shots of the convention.

And an Abus 65/40 cutaway Padlock i got free from the LSC area:

Enjoy.

thats a cool cutaway.... is this another of those expos where you can only get in if you are in the industry, like the candy expo in las vegas?

(free candy=awesome)

Technically open to public, you didn't need to register to see the areas, only the courses, but it wasn't really publicised outside of the mlaa anyway.

I thought that guy with those blue bags in the 7th photo was a drag queen.

That red and green machine is what cuts their new MT5 and MT5+ keys. I'll grab my camera sometime this weekend and take a few happy snaps of the key.
