If any of you saw that movie, he uses a thick looking lockpick that he just puts into the door knob and it automatically opens it.
Is there such a thing and where can i get it.

are you sure it wasnt the key?? just kidding, I would have to agree it is just more hollywood magic.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

All of the lock opening in that movie (except perhaps when the commie russian guy picked his way into the building before planting the finger prints), is hollywood magic. End of story. Great movie btw... I've seen it twice already. Plan on going again.

Actually I sent an e-mail to Barry of TOOOL and he hasn't responded to me yet but I was discussing with one of my picking buddies and we were discussing how it would be done was what we deduced from what we saw and heard.
On was that he put it in and twisted his wrist slightly adding tension, then if you listened and off the top of my head if I remember correctly one or two clicking sounds.
Now from that whether it would be magic or not is that it could be an automatic tool for using the bump method so no picking is needed. I actually drew up a blueprint as to how it would be designed so as to meet the dimensions as the device he used in the movie. And also it has the loaded tension to precisely what would be needed for a perfect or near perfect hit everytime.

There were no clicks that I can remember- he simply inserted it and turned it like it was a key (which it probobly was)

only people who get headaches and have memory lapses are able to use those types of special picks - they take a lot of skill..
it also helps to have coolly spelt names like:
Bourne,
Marc,
Jacque
etc..
Oh look! it's 2016!

Well on a serious note I did draw up the plans to make a automatic "999" bump method tool in the same size as the tool he used, it can be used in a few ways, either being spring loaded, pnuematic, etc... to power it.
So whether it does exist in reality yet, it's not far fetched. Because all I have to do is fabricate the parts at a machine shop.

It's an excellent movie, but I have to say that the books are far better and more accurate. I finally finished getting them all, including the bourne legacy, which was partly Robert Ludlum's manuscript, completed posthumously by another author. All in all, I'd say read the books. Very entertaining. However, if you want real information, you should go join the military and do something such as the SEAL challenge contract. No hollywood there, and if you pop over to http://www.navyseals.com there's tons of great info, esp. historical.
