That's a nice novel lock. It looks practical and looks as though it has been used a lot in the past as well. Any idea what it was used on?

Glad I saw that. the steel shackle looks almost new, but the brass has the patina of much handling. the swing shackle type dates it to the late 19th century or more likely the first half of the 20th century. the markings make it a mass produced piece rather than a one of a kind piece. Was this made in england?

thats awsome! where did you aquire that? is the use of "secret lock" still something in modern use and manufacture... like a false key left for people to plat with in the open and the hidden one being the real?

I'm not sure how effective that would be now since information spreads so fast with the invention of the internets. I'm saying, if Master came out with a lock like you described, it wouldn't a secret very long (just an opinion).
