I Issue a Pick making Challenge!

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

As we work to tabulate results, which I'm sure Schuyler will announce very soon, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who submitted their lock pick contest entries. We had a great time trying them out on a bunch of locks, and I was very impressed with the craftsmanship and innovation of the picks.

I personally didn't have a great picking day, even my Bogota rakes were giving me a hard time with this one brand new 7 pin Yale, but I can confirm that someone else got it open very quickly using one of the contest submissions.

Please stop by soon for updates and results!

Thanks Everybody,

Squelchtone

Is it going to be posted in this thread? I am just wondering if it was posted in a new thread and I totally missed it.

i was kinda wondering the same thing- although I haven't come accross anything. I'm guessing Schuyler got tied up with something, and we'll see the results as soon as he gets a chance to post

Mossad called Schuyler in, to go to Syria and rescue the two missing reporters. If he's not back in a fort night, he told me to announce the winners. no.. wait.. he's at LockCon in the Netherlands, busy rubbing elbows with ssDev, other TOOOL members, CIA recruiters, and guys like Jaakko.

Thanks for being patient on the result, the compeition culminated around the same time he had to gear up for his trip to the Netherlands. I hope he brings my Bogotas are safe and sound.

It was make with a solid block of stainless steel

The difficulty level was very high because the tang and the handle was made with the same piece

I have filed down the tang to .025''

I have make some ergonomic finger groove

This is what the tip would have look like (top)

That's pretty. I'm reluctant to spend a lot of time making one-piece designs like yours. It would just be heartbreaking if the tip ever breaks. All you'd be left with is a meticulously crafted handle.

Do we need to organize a search and rescue team? We could make a specialized team where everyone has a special skill except we would all have the same special skill... picking locks.
There's nothing what can't be done with a lil Trailer Park Ingenuity.

Arcturus,
Thats a beautiful piece youve made, I like the ergonomic handle. I can just imagine you standing for hours over a belt sander with a stainless butterknife heating up in you hand. :D

Very good work. keep it up
