Plug direction and is it me !!

hi all,

I have been picking only for an ickle while compaired to some of you here, but already have discovered that some locks, ie. euro-cylinders and some std. plug cylinders only like be raked / picked in one direction, ie. clockwise etc...
is this a common trait to most locks, and if so, how effective are plug spinners, and do they work 1st time every time ?

I have tried spinning the plug back past the sheer line by hand, with a screwdriver real fast but the buggers spring back in every time, i can only assume spinners are well fast ?

can someone shed anylight on this matter ??

plug spinners do work well but im not impressed by the cheap ones though. So locks just pick easier one way, others can pick as easy both ways, but im not sure why ?

Maybe romstar could provide us with a "little explanation"

It is rather simple, It is the same binding order defect that allows alock to be picked in the first place. The lock can of course be picked in both directions, its just much much easier in one.

I like the old rubber band trick. Tie a rubber band on one of your tension wrenches and insert it into the keyway. Pull the rubber band as far as you can in the direction you want the tension wrench to spin, so that when you let go it is pulled with great speed in the correct unlocked position. I keep a rubber band in my pick case.

Good trick, works fine, but I had to practise a few times, before I got it right. (Practise,practise,practise, as always)

I personally believe that some locks picking better in one direction rather than the other could be caused by pin wear and general wear of the lock. The key is usually turned a certain direction. (Not always, of course...) This is just one explanation... I could be way off...

The rytan spinner looks pretty good and seems to be more reasonably priced than others. Rubber bands are, of course, cheaper. I haven't had luck with the rubber band trick, but I justhaven't found the right rubber band! So give that a try for sure. I think I will look for some rubber band of various strength and see what happens for me.. I have been thinking about building a spinner.. if you have too, there is a good thread around here someplace.. search for DrDave's video! The info is here someplace!

I have read good things on here about the HPC flipit also, I believe..
