LSI Leadership change-up

Postby digital_blue » 29 Oct 2008 21:50

Hey folks,

I believe the time has come for me to take a bit of a step back from Locksport International. As many of you know, L.I has long been "my baby" to some extent, though it could never have been possible without the fantastic efforts of many. However, lately real life has stepped in and I find that I am no longer able to work to develop L.I with the vigor I once had.

Over the last couple years, I've had the great pleasure to get to know Doug Farre. When we heard what he was doing down in Texas for locksport, we eagerly embraced him into the L.I fold and Doug has worked tirelessly on several great L.I projects. When Varjeal decided, also for "real life" reasons, that his time as President had come to an end, I happily accepted the roll of President and we moved Doug into the Administrative Director roll. I believe that through the efforts and energy that Doug brings to locksport, he has shown himself to be the right guy to whom I should now pass the reigns of leadership.

I had a great conversation with Doug today. I called him because I wanted to be sure, before I made this decision, that he was willing and ready to take on the roll of President of the club. Doug is a genuinely great guy with a great heart for locksport and I believe he will do a great job with it.

I will continue indefinitely to sit as a General Board Member. I will participate in board votes as needed. I will also remain to provide any desired council to Doug and the other board members upon request. I will continue to give to Locksport what I can manage, knowing that the direction of the club remains in good hands.

Please help me congratulate Doug Farre as he steps into this new roll in Locksport International. Doug, I offer you my personal thanks for all the time and enthusiasm you have brought to the club to this point. Your commitment to our vision has been paramount.

I'd also like to thank all of you who have participated and supported Locksport International. It has been my pleasure to work with each of you along the way. I believe very deeply that L.I has something to offer the world, and I hope that we've had, and will continue to have, an impact on the face of locksport in general.

I can still be reached on 101, or by email, and will continue to be around, so this is by no means a "goodbye". It is simply another page turned in the store of Locksport International.

Thank you,

Josh

Congrats Doug! Speaking as someone who has known you personally for the last few years, I have every confidence you'll make a great President of L.I. With your love of the sport and contributions to it, especially through the founding of Longhorn Lockpicking, I can't think of a better person for the job!

Hey, what great news Congratulations, Doug - your assistance getting the Columbus branch onboarded has been fantastic. Looking forward to many years of organizing and planning with you and the rest of the team.

And I hope that you will still be around, DB. You are a great stabilizing influence on this sport.
