Hello there, I need some help. I would like to start practicing lockpicking, like a hobby, because it seems really fun. I am from Romania, and i don't know where could I buy a beginners' set from. Can you point me to the right direction, please? Thanks a lot...

A quick note on buying direct from Peterson, they are serious about selling only to security professionals. If you aren't one, you're going to have to settle for buying through resellers like LPS and lockpicks.com. The same may be true for HPC, but I'm not as sure on that. I'm pretty sure that Southord will sell to anyone.

Quickest and most independent way to get picks is to make them yourself, out of such things as hacksaw blades and other materials that you can find mentioned in the stickies and some of the threads. If you can do this, you will be able to make some special types that otherwise may not be available.

Eh, wrong answer.... Everytime I have called in an order they have never asked whether I was a security professional or not. If you want peterson though and they have now changed their ways since my last order try www.lockpicks.com as they carry peterson tools.

Wow, that's certainly (good) news to me. The irony is that unless you're ordering custom stuff from them, you'll probably still end up with a better price by going the lockpickshop.com route since everyone, even places like HL Flake, seems to sell Peterson at just about the same price... but with LPS you get coupon codes to lower the price.
