Im sure many of you will give me your own opinions on what is best for what..

Ive made my own picks from the all so famouse "hacksaw blades" and was wondering if anyone thinks theres better materials out there... Ofcourse there is! But I want to know what it is and why?

Street sweeper bristles, wiper blade inserts, feeler gauge stock, and many more can be used for bargain material. If you want quality and can afford it, I'd recommend high carbon spring steel. It is great to work with something that you don't have to tear the rust off of or worry about uneven temper on. It'll require more sophisticated tools (to a degree), but it really is quite good for picks. There was another thread with more idea, specific brands, and links to vendors:

Hey Hey
if the things that other people thought were hard to get i found out that the best thing to use is a dip stick. it is the oil checker in a car and u can make lots of picks out of them. the only problem is it is a bit skiny and hurts a bit but they work really well.
hope it helps :D :D

Titanium - well the interesting story is I shipped some titanium stock to two members many months ago so that they might try working with it. I've not heard anything as to results.

There have been threads discussing the pros, cons, and hazards of working with titanium stock. You can search to find what's been said so far.
It's a good day when I learn something new.

The reason i asked about titanium is because my laziness got the best of me.. I started making titanium picks but it was just a lot of work cutting them. I need better tooling. :|
