Whats the best way to pick house/garden locks?

Postby smttyxc92 » 29 Nov 2008 8:01

I have home made tools an I cant pick my side door or backyard gate locks..My tension tool is great but i have a straight hairpin as my pick. Can you do it with these or do i need to upgrade? What technique is the best for these locks? Thanks! :)

1) Do not pick locks that you rely on

2) Asking how to get into gardens or houses is a sure fire way to get this thread locked and yourself banned.

use the search, read the tutorial section read everything... then read it again...
i must agree with the above poster... you come off the wrong way, the fact you dont want to take any time to learn, and just want to know how to make entry, is very suspect...

hairpins are great...for figuring out how a lock works.

they will not however fill the place of an actual pick(unless your really good, but at that point you can pick a lock with a banana, so why would you use a hair pin?)

anyway, saying "how do you pick a house lock" is

a.) a great way for people to think you wan't to steal something and

b.) about as useful as asking how much food you should give your house dog. yes, we know the general idea of what your asking, but we still can't really help you because your to vague.

picks or a description of the lock you wan't to pick will help.

learning how to pick will help more. the way you ask implies that you have little to no idea how a lock works, and thus why lock picking works(If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but i doubt it.)

note: having read over what i just wrote, i realize i could have just said "yah, pretty much what these two guys said", but whatever.

If you have a bench grinder, dremel tool, and the like, you can easily make your own tension tools as well as basic picks by viewing the picks on some of these posts as well as other sites - as some are held against a ruler for proper measurment. You can then print them off & make exact duplicates. Think there is a link on this site also for tension tool manufacture as well as plug spinners, and other necessary tools. So look around on this site, & follow the directions if you have the tools.
